 BMEL-Call for proposals: "Innovative approaches to process local food in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia"


This call is launched within the framework of the funding instrument "International research cooperation for global food security". The objective is to support joint research projects between German research institutions and those in countries and regions that are worst affected by hunger and malnutrition. The programme will fund the development of needs-based solutions and the creation of scientific networks which should also contribute to the development of local capacity.


The research should contribute to the following objectives:

  • retain nutritional value, shelf-life and food safety end products should be healthy, nutritious food products;
  • reduce seasonality of food insecurity and food and nutrient losses;
  • more efficient and particularly time-saving preparation of healthy meals.

Call for proposals: Food & Business Applied Research Fund (ARF)


The Food & Business Applied Research Fund provides grants to applied research contributing to innovation for food security and private sector development in the 15 partner countries of Dutch development cooperation. Proposals may be submitted by consortia consisting of at least

  • one private or public practitioners organisation active in the partner countries and
  • one research or higher education organisation.


One Dutch partner is required.


ARF aims at promoting research supported innovations that are readily applicable and contribute to the enhancement of sustainable food security for the most vulnerable populations in the fifteen partner countries of Dutch development cooperation: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Yemen.
